syntax highlighting breakage

Latest packages.
After some period of usage, syntax highlighting broke. I'm typing in
a new C++ header file. After class xxx {, I type public:
It indents public and makes it green. The only way to regain sanity
is to kill emacs and restart. Then it's fine.
No clue what caused it.
