Did you reopen the bug with the comment that they should make an
'esound-dev-common' then?
Potato has not been released yet. There is still time to do it
properly.
Checking in the BTS, it seems that they have not closed the bug and are
working on a fix. So, Debian will fix it. Nifty :)
