Thanks for the pointer. I remember this discussion, but I didn't
follow it closely because it didn't affect me at the time. :-)
I'll just keep doing what I have been doing then: append or push the
paths as needed.
If this is not going to be fixed, then the documentation about using
customize should be removed before the final release.
