As part of my ongoing struggle with JDE, I tried to install eterm
(through the package buffer), but when I select eterm and press x, I
get an error "Invalid operation: Invalid package type". I tried the US
XEmacs server and a mirror, and couldn't get eterm from either of
them. Another package (edit-utils, which I already had an old version
of) installed OK (well, I got an error "Already loaded", but at least
it downloaded). I think eterm should install, or the error message
should explain why it doesn't.
Hmm, the package's category is "os", not "standard", so I think
your
version of the package tools (part of core) is not "edgy" enough to
handle this (and other packages as well [a]). I've removed the
package and re-installed it okay using a
XEmacs 21.5 (beta15) "celery" (+CVS-20030911) [Lucid]
(i386-unknown-freebsd4.9, Mule) of Fri Sep 12 2003 on

Steve Y, is this assumption correct?
Vaclav, for now, I'd say you should be able to install the package
after you've changed that string in your package-index.LATEST.gpg
(please make a backup before you fiddle with it). Or cvs up your
xemacs source and retry.
