i got time i want to experiment also, i think making a port of xemacs

is a good idea, xemacs would take full advantage of all the qt-features,
speaking of which i got a little question, xemacs beta cant see the
 truetype
fonts in my machine, why is that ?? im using XFree-4.1 with the XRender
 and
freetype support.....is it because there's no explicit linkage of
 xemacs with
 freetype ??

You'll have to be a little bit careful with this one; according to the
information about GTK XEmacs, QPL'd software can't be linked with GPL'd
software without the consent of *all* of the copyright holders (at
least, that's RMS' stance). Personally I think a QT port would be a good
thing, but I think it is very unlikely (since QT isn't proper Free
Software) that the FSF (one of the major copyright holders) would agree
to a QT port.
I'm quite interested in the GUI support stuff my self, as I've just got
a new Mac, and it'd be great to get native MacOS X support into XEmacs...
Kind regards,
Alastair.
