The CVS tree does not get into load-path under normal circumstances;
only the _installed_ packages do. Andreas presumably has a full set
of installed packages. Mine is partial. Yours is evidently even more
partial.

Add "../speedbar" and keep trying until it works. :-(
You'll still probably run into the "no setf method for setq" error I
described earlier.
