I like the fact that XEmacs and emacs compete - I think we get more because
of the competition...
It is probably true that more total work is done on XEmacs and Emacs
because of this. On the other hand, any extra time I spend on Emacs
because of competition is taken away from some other part of the GNU
project. If we had all been working together from the beginning, I'm
sure that the total progress on GNU software including Emacs would be
greater. Perhaps I would be working on some other program by now.
