You should report this as a bug to Mandrake. It is not a good idea
for GNU Emacs and XEmacs to share Lisp directories, because the byte
codes diverged some time ago.
What Debian does is to share the sources, but byte-compile for each
platform and put the byte-compiled libraries in separate directories.
Perhaps Mandrake follows the same strategy but made a mistake here, or
maybe they're not aware of the issue.
