Hmm, I don't have 'aspell' on my system, just 'ispell', and I
don't
see the problem you describe.
aspell is quite nice; it's suggestions are substantially better than
ispell. At least, they are for me. ;)
Is it possible for you to remove 'aspell' and try it with
just
'ispell'? Does the problem go away then?
I use aspell and don't see this issue, incidentally, but I use the
aspell binary directly. So, aspell /can/ work successfully with the
ispell.el and flyspell.el packages.
