I've just checked in code that replaces the C-based implementation of
window configurations by a purely Elisp-based one. The new one is
(hopefully) substantially cleaner, but there are some gotchas:
- there are some subtle semantic differences which will probably
affect some of the packages
- it exposes long-standing geometry bugs that the old code didn't
expose
- and of course, there are bound to be bugs: some aspects of the Elisp
code are still pretty subtle
On the upside, I've been running with this code for two weeks without
problems. But that's just my setup.
So, I'd appreciate if everybody stayed calm and patient and file
precise bug reports while we shake out the problems that are sure to
come up---despite your understandable urges to grab something heavy
and pointed and ram it into your screen.
Thank you,
