returns nil, garbage will not be collected due to pure space overflow
when dumping.
At least that is the situation with Emacs, and there might be
something similar with XEmacs.
Part of implementing the portable dumper involved removing support for
purespace, and this leak never stops garbage collection--it seems to be
independent of the XEmacs memory accounting.
