Oh, come on, Hrvoje. This is easily handled by informative messages
from configure. Nobody's forcing you to have conversations like this.

We're going round in circles here: Lots of patches (especially big
ones) break *something*. Except in this case we know about it,
because Eric and Matthias were gracious enough to be upfront about
it. They also offered (despite your claim to the contrary) on fixing
the breakage.
