That feels too complex and fragile for me; after all these are only
fallback defaults. Lucidatypwriter is a very plausible default (one
that I use myself for the default face when I'm in a bitmap font
world, which is rather rare these days). I disagree with changing a
tolerable default as a general principle. If the scaling bitmaps bug
is still part of Cygwin, I can definitely imagine it being intolerable
enough to be worth changing a default.
I'd like to hear from Volker Zell and other Cygwin users on that,
though.
