This may never get fixed in the 21.4 series, since we have a workaround and the fix seems to me to be likely to require a fairly complete reworking of the progress gauge widget, which might destabilize Windows and so on that are not affected by this crash. (That's just my opinion, if a fix is found the final decision is Vin Shelton's.)
