I've been getting the same behavior for ages with my init.el that asks
questions (whether I want to start gnus or not for instance). When the frame
pops up, the question is usually not displayed. For me, moving the mouse
(really, the X focus) away from the XEmacs frame, and back again makes the
minibuffer be (re)displayed correctly.
