It does not look to me that these variables are saved by the dumper

You're right. ^%#$^%$#^%$# symbol_value_forward from hell.
Who had the oh-so-cool idea of using the "next" member of the
lcrecord_header to point to something that has _nothing_ to do with
the next element in the lcrecord chain?
I'm going to sanitize that and fix the pdump problem in the process.
