There's nothing 3d'ish about the widget.el widgets, my point was that
widget *does* mean something in Emacs outside an X11 context.

PS: Can't you set up your Eudora mailer *not* to generate a

header? The references header it generates is bogus, and breaks
threading.
I'm about to switch to VM so hopefully this won't be a problem anymore.
