Matthias Neubauer just finished his M.A. thesis and implemented the flow analysis necessary for doing a source-to-source compiler. Eric Knauel ist currently doing the follow-up work to turn it into a compiler. Richard Reingruber's work (GC replacement) includes making the elisp object representation into something more palatable for other substrates.
