Crash configuring in 32-bit mode on amd64 ubuntu with latest tarball

Benson Margulies writes: This crash is due to a check for broken systems [which probably don't exist anymore, linux a.out!] ... that's why we check for XGetFontProperty after failing to find XOpenDisplay. configure with --with-x11=no if you don't have the libraries, or find out why configure can't find the libraries if you do.
