[Bug: 21.5-b28] CPerl mode: 'Wrong type argument: integer-or-marker-p, nil' on { keypress
16 years, 11 months
Ed Avis
================================================================
Dear Bug Team!
Attempting to type { at a particular character position in the file
below when in CPerl mode causes the error
Wrong type argument: integer-or-marker-p, nil
and the { character is not inserted. To reproduce create a file 'bug'
with the following content:
#!/usr/bin/perl
print <<END
$c
Then start 'xemacs -vanilla'. C-x C-f b u g RET. Move point to just
after the $ character with C-n C-n C-f. Now type {. I expected a {
character to be inserted but the above message was displayed instead.

Defaulting to the GNU Emacs-derived `sendmail.el' mail client. This facility,
while part of base XEmacs, is heinously underfeatured, and not going to get
better in the medium term. We include it so that bug reports work without
packages; we suggest that you choose and/or install one of the other mail
clients from packages if you're doing something other than M-x
report-xemacs-bug , or even if you are reporting bugs regularly.
To choose a package from those installed, click on "Options" ->
"Internet" -> "Compose Mail With ..." and decide on one from the
list. Gnus and VM are full-featured and have active user communities.
To disable this warning and stick with the old behavior, you can explicitly
initialize `mail-user-agent' to 'sendmail-user-agent .

Actually my preference would be to have it read "GPL V2 or later" to
give people the opportunity to use GPL v2 which I understand, versus
GPL v3 which I don't fully yet. If that is acceptable please consider
this my formal permission to license it under GPL v2 or later. If you
insist on it being "GPL v3 or later" I will need to read the new GPL
more carefully to ensure it protects freedoms I want protected.

auto-filling and indent-for-comment.

Hello
The following trivial function
(defun my-add-comment () ;Version:1.118
"Combination of linefeed and indent for comment."
(interactive)
(line-feed)
(indent-for-comment))
Also me to add comments in this form
(defun my-add-comment () ;Version:1.118
"Combination of linefeed and indent for comment."
(interactive)
(line-feed) ;this is almost to easy
(indent-for-comment)) ; to be true
Now I would like that a modification of auto-fill-mode/and or
adaptive-fill would produce this result.
Anybody has an idea?
thanks

Icon for XEmacs.
16 years, 11 months
Aidan Kehoe
Hi,
I’m one of the developers of XEmacs, a multiplatform GPLed editor and Lisp
interpreter. For our OS X port, we need a scalable, good-looking icon for
the editor itself--up to now, on X11 and Win32 we’ve been using non-scalable
pixmap icons that have worked quite well there, though I think we’d be happy
to change them to match a new scalable icon.
I’m sure I could come up with something, but I would much prefer to leave it
to someone with a real inclination to this sort of work. Does anyone here
fit the bill?
Slightly independent of that, I suspect that if we move to following the
Freedesktop.org Icon Theme Spec,
http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/ , and default to using the
existing Tango icons, the GUI will look better on all platforms and
integrate much better with KDE and Gnome. But that’s another day’s work.
Thank you,
Aidan Kehoe

This should be fixed in the latest version of the package (1.19).

Dear Developers,
As the topic said, the dired-re-month-and-time will match the size-of-file generated by function mswindows-insert-directory.
Please try to run search-forward-regexp with default dired-re-month-and-time value againt following lines, and you will see the problem.

Point sometimes stop at _Dec, which will cause the "Dec 20 16:54 xxxx" being marked as a filename.
In case we have to populate dir list by self_implemented mswindows-insert-directory, which output format will be fully in control of XEmacs developer, why don't just use a fixed dired-re-month-and-time regular expression in windows?

Neal,
I have been using it for a long while. Alas, I've completely forgotten how
to update anything in XEmacs. Can someone provide me again with a crib
sheet on updating an external package?
Thanks,

Although, OSX encodes accented characters using combining accents
rather than using pre-composed characters. IIRC, OS functions will
decompose any pre-composed characters automatically, but you need to
bear in mind that a byte string obtained from e.g. readdir() won't
necessarily match the byte string you passed when creating the file.
Needless to say, Unix/Linux just treats composed/decomposed versions
of the same text as entirely different filenames.
