<RANT> Why have we converted our sources to this bizarre Ibyte/Extbyte language? </RANT> For the first time in awhile, I built a pdumped XEmacs. This XEmacs happened to be 21.5, so I noticed that the way I usually run, with a symlink from a common bin directory to a build-specific install directory, could not find the .dmp file. (E.g. I install into the prefix /usr/local/xemacs-21.5-2003-09-07 and create a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin/xemacs-21.5 that points to /usr/local/xemacs-21.5-2003-09-07/bin/xemacs.) Stephen and I fixed this issue for 21.4 last December, but the fix never got ported to 21.5. I tried doing a straight port of the old patch, but xrealpath no longer exists. I started to convert to the new format, but now I'm getting a segfault in converting the filename. crash of xemacs on unix 22 years

21.5.15, test -e & XPG4 sh on Solaris 22 years

xemacs-beta: I was trying to configure xemacs 21.5.15 and configure failed when it tried to run config.status, specifically, on a test statement. This is the same "bug" that I have found with other packages, i.e. test -e is not supported by /bin/test which is called by scripts that have the first line as #!/bin/sh Sun decided to support the XPG4 standard by an alternate set of binaries in /usr/xpg4/bin, i.e. /usr/xpg4/bin/sh uses /usr/xpg4/bin/test which supports -e. This is the case with Solaris 2.8, which I am using, and earlier releases as well. However, there doesn't appear to be an obvious solution, unless I am missing it. What would be nice is if there was an option for configure like --with-sh=/usr/xpg4/bin/sh so that config.status would be created with a first line of #!/usr/xpg4/bin/sh Any other ideas would be appreciated. XEmacs 21.4.13 hangs after X-error!? 22 years

Hi, I have been getting this hangings lately. Suddenly XEmacs hangs or is at least not possible to communicate with. These X errors are reported to the terminal where XEmacs was started. xemacs: X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 25 (X_SendEvent) Resource id in failed request: 0x1018694 Serial number of failed request: 3931242 Current serial number in output stream: 3931243 Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x3bfc6b)! xemacs: X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 18 (X_ChangeProperty) Resource id in failed request: 0x1018694 Serial number of failed request: 3931241 Current serial number in output stream: 3931243 I'm getting this with a late CVS-build, emacs-version "21.4 (patch 13) \"Rational FORTRAN\" XEmacs Lucid" on a RH9 system.
