Do new packages have to be added to the package-directory-map variable in
package-compile.el? The package source code in cvs contains the hyperbole
package, which builds correctly, but the package name is not included in the
package-directory-map. Is this correct and does it matter?

Missing Local.rules.inc

I am trying to build packages from source. I checked-out out the cvs source
per instructions and modified Local.rules, again per instructions.
XEmacs.rules is trying to include Local.rules.inc yet it does not exist. I
found references to this file in the ChangeLog but no clue what should be in
it.
Any help?

Xemacs has crashed twice recently for no discernable reason. The
first time the message said "Fatal error(11)" and the second time it
said "Fatal error(6)". No core file was generated in either case.
The first time I was using the gui search function.
If you can help me solve this problem, I would be grateful.

21.5 indents java files wrongly, only in jde-mode. This problem has
been on 21.5 for a while, so it should be a known bug, but I have not
been able to find a discussion in any of the lists.
The problem happens with comments. Here's a sample file
/**
* Class Tmp
*
*/
public class Tmp {}
This is correctly indented; however, xemacs 21.5 only, and in JDE mode
only, indents this as:
/**
* Class Tmp
*
*/
public class Tmp {}
which is clearly wrong. How can this be fixed?

[Bug: 21.4.13] Core dump using EFS

Dear Bug Team!
I keep running into an intermittent problem when using EFS. If I edit a
remote file and let the underlying ftp process timeout and then try to change
the remote file, I sometimes get a bizarre core dump. It seems bizarre to me
since XEmacs doesn't exit, it just cores. All of my processes (like gnuserv)
are killed, too. But after the coring completes, I can use XEmacs again. I
can usually manage to save the file; however, I often have to kill EFS's ftp
process/buffer a few times to be able to reconnect to the remote host.
I have this need to kill EFS's proc/buffer occasionally in order to initially
connect to a remote host, even in cases that don't result in core dumps. It
may be that when EFS needs to reconnect and the reconnect wedges causes the
core dump. I've tried to chase down the cause of this but couldn't find it.
I did find a few places in EFS where wrong things were done in error cases,
but none of these cause either the timeout or core dump cases.
I've attached a backtrace from the core dump.

xemacs crash due to no X server

Hello,
I had xemacs crash... with a simple problem. I have a windows machine
that I use to remotely work on a linux system. I use putty (a terminal
program) to connect to that machine using ssh, which also tunnels the X
session for xemacs. As such, I have a DISPLAY defined in the environment
there. However, at the time I started xemacs, I had no xserver running
locally on the windows machine. I believe that to be the problem.
Even though xemacs could never start in this situation, I would not
expect it to coredump or crash in this manner.
Below are the output of starting xemacs (lisp backtrace!), the requested
backtrace and the output of describe-installation.
Hopefully this helps you to improve a very usable prooduct.

Hungry delete not working

Hi,
I wanted to use hungry delete while editing. I added the following to my init.el file :-

Now, when I press CTRL+C CTRL+D, it says :-
"Symbol's function definition is void: c-hungry-delete-forward."
It says the same thing for c-hungry-backspace. What are the functions that do hungry delete ? I am using Xemacs 21.4 on windows XP. How do I map keys to do hungry delete in both directions.
