load-path when dumping xemacs-21.4.13 elisp 22 years

Hi, I have been suffering from this for a while, but just didn't have time to look into it further until now. I noticed that the following two files included in xemacs-21.4.12 aren't in xemacs-21.4.13: lisp/mule/canna-leim.elc lisp/mule/mule-x-init.elc Is this intentional? This seems to lead to rebuild problems, because since these two files then don't get installed, "update-elc.el" tries to byte-compile the *installed* ".el" files when rebuilding xemacs-21.4.13 with xemacs-21.4.13 already installed afaict! The problem seems to be that whereas with 21.4.12 load-path gets set to just the "lisp/" and "lisp/mule/" dirs in the source tree, with xemacs-21.4.13 load-path instead contains the installed lisp dir and package lisp dirs (this seems to be a separate bug). Also when actually dumping, the same problem occurs and the elisp files dumped are from the installed lisp dirs not the source tree. Has anyone else seen this? Jens

[Bug: 21.4.6] xemacs.exe V 21.4.13 22 years

Current installation: 21.4.6 Update installation: 21.4.13 Starting gnus in 21.4.13: ok Exiting gnus in 21.4.13: xemacs crashes, 100% cpu, application xemacs no answer, exiting xemacs only by taskmanager To see, what package causes the problem, i successively installed each 21.4.13 package in a plain 21.4.6 installation by netinstaller. After each package i tested for the problem. It was found, that the xemacs-i586-pc-win32-21.4.13 package caused the problem. I only replaced the 21.4.13 xemacs.exe with the 21.4.6 one. This solved the problem, xemacs with gnus works fine. Hello, I just rebuilt it to use athena (Xaw3d, in my case) dialogs and widgets and it doesn't crash any more. If it helps, the crashy xemacs was linking against open-motif 2.2.2. Faried.

Hi, can someone explain me how to use the code from blowfish.el? I tried it but encountered only errors. I tried it with Emacs and it worked fine. run lisp code on every xemacs invocation 22 years

I want to install some lisp expressions to run whenever someone starts up XEmacs (21.4.x/21.5.x). I want to add it to a place where all users of that XEmacs installation will run those sexp's automatically. These sexps aren't part of any package, but just are some site initialization routines. Where is the accepted place to put these expressions? the site-lisp/site-packages etc directories are apparently deprecated, and my code isn't a package (and doesn't really want to be). Preserving of text properties 22 years

Hi, the manual claims ,----[ info://lispref/Text+Properties ] | Copying text between strings and buffers preserves the properties | along with the characters; this includes such diverse functions as | `substring', `insert', and `buffer-substring'. `---- but if I try that I observe that (at least for me) weird behaviour. Suppose I have an buffer in lisp-interaction-mode and font-lock-mode (scratch). There is the defun (defun foo () "Some doc string with a variable `var'" (while foo bar)) from point 727 to 801. So if I do (insert (buffer-substring 727 801 "*scratch*")) in a buffer without font-lock active (fundamental mode) the text properties should be preserved. But all text properties get stripped except these for the »`var'«. The difference is if you do a `list-text-properties-at' that »`var'« has a list as face property `list-text-properties-at' in scratch for »`var'» ,---- | Text properties at 778: | | font-lock t | face (font-lock-reference-face font-lock-doc-string-face) `---- All the other elements have a single element as the property face. Is there an error in the manual in my understanding (most sure) of it or in the preservation of text properties.
