[BUG] 21.5.6: configure incorrectly reports error checking enabled 22 years, 1 month

./configure --error-checking=none warns that runtime error ehcking is enabled. The problem is that there are nine error checking variables with yes/no values but the script checks against "no no no no no no". There needs to be nine no's.

To see this, do: $xemacs -vanilla evaluate: (progn (setq gnuserv-frame t) (gnuserv-start nil)) Lower the xemacs-frame behind some other frame (e.g., an xterm) and open some file: $gnuclient FILE => the file will be loaded, but the frame will not be raised. Now, iconify the frame and open some file: => the file will be loaded, and the frame will be raised. Well, this might be a feature --- but I personally think, the frame should always be raised when a file is loaded. With an up-to-the minute CVS 21.4 build from Stephen's development tree (specifying the "candidate-21-4" tag), I'm getting a core dump while building cc-align.el. Here is my Installation file: Here is the lisp backtrace: And here is the gdb stack trace: Now, it turns out I can byte-compile cc-align.el with either a non-mule 21.1.14 or a current mule version of a recent copy of 21.4. I will investigate further if I have time. - vin

gnuclient *feature* -- crash when frames lose X connection 22 years, 1 month

I stopped using gnuclient a while back because it would cause my XEmacs processes to die easily. I would start a process at work, then go home and connect with gnuclient over DSL. But if my line died, the process at work would die too! That meant that I couldn't just re-gnuclient the frame when my connection restabilized. This is bad for me. Just because an X client loses connection to a server on which it is hosting a frame/window, does that mean that the client has to totally pork?

I'm seeing the same problem, but I'm getting incompatibilities with the version of ZLIB I'm building against. I'm using the version from ftp.xemacs.org (in "/pub/xemacs/aux/win32"). It was built requiring "libc.lib" as the default lib, but this conflicts with using "msvcrt.lib" to link "minitar.exe" together.
