vm-edit-message gives Cyclic keymap indirection error

This is undoubtedly related to the bug I reported a few minutes ago.
When I press 'e' in a VM Summary buffer (vm-edit-message), I get the
error indicated in this backtrace:

If I press the key again, the message comes up, but not formatted as
it should be. If I make edit changes followed by {C-c C-c}
(vm-message-edit-end), it says "This is not a VM message edit buffer."
This seems to be another problem related to the botching things up
caused by the presence of Hyperbole with what is apparently
incompatable elisp.
I won't repeat the rant from the previous message.

Dear Bug Team!
The documentation for the function load-module says, "This function will
check to make sure that the same module is not loaded twice." However,
it does not appear to do so. The attached tar file contains code for a
nearly nonexistent module. Compile and install the module, then invoke
load-module on it twice. You will get a segmentation fault. This has
something to do with hooking the event stream (it crashes on calling
null_event_pending_p() in the module, after loading it the second
time). I haven't completely figured it out yet, but it seems clear that
we should not be loading the module twice. A patch to make that so will
follow in a day or three.

I want to give this a try before we take on the burden of installing
(and maintaining!) a namazu search engine for XEmacs.
We have three master websites and I don't like the idea of maintain
search and indexing engines on all these.
And we have many web-mirrors too!

In man/lispref/packaging.texi, node names like the following exist:
The User's View
The Library Maintainer's View
Unfortunately, texinfo has the strange requirement that node names
cannot have apostrophes; from the texinfo manual:
* You cannot use commas or apostrophes within a node name; these
confuse TeX or the Info formatters.
I also suspect that this limitation also applies to chapter and section
(etc.) names, as I'm getting TeX errors when trying to format the
lispref manual.
