In XEmacs 21.2 (beta26) "Millenium" [Lucid] (sparc-sun-solaris2.6) of Sat Jan 1 2000 on amdev01 configured using `configure --site-includes=/opt/local_dev/include --site-libraries=/opt/local_dev/lib --dynamic --prefix=/opt/local_dev/xemacs-21.2.26 --with-xpm --with-tooltalk --with-sparcworks --with-gcc=no --with-xface' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: Brought up customize for Custmize/Emacs/Environment/Menu/Buffers Menu/Submenus for Groups P Changed value to Allow subgroups Clicked save button with middle button, instead of button1. (new folding 2.64) Problems with text-modes/folding.el and XEmacs 21 24 years, 4 months

I submitted newest version 2.64 to anders and testing with prebuilt win32 XEmacs 21.2.6, I do not get any errros any more. The goto-line works without problems in the report below. Let me know if there are other troubles left. (By the way, I use (if (string-match "XEmacs" emacs-version) (setq Info-auto-generate-directory 'always)) in my .emacs). Note that the lines `Info files in /...' often seem to be wrong, only the first such line above shows a directory where a gnus-info file really lives. No matter which link of Gnus:: or Gnus: I follow, I will always get the info-file of the Gnus from CVS in my home directory, because I did set this directory to come first in my `Info-directory-list'. In this case I don't care much, because I don't want to read the old Gnus-info-files anyway (And I know I can get them with `C-u M-x info' if I really want). But when I worked on Windows NT with Cygwin I had many info files with the same names (those which came with Cygwin and others copied from a Linux system for reference). I wanted to be able to read both versions conveniently. Neither GNU Emacs nor XEmacs could deal well with this. As a workaround I used hand-edited `dir' files in all the info directories with paths edited like * blabla: (./blabla). and a top-level dir file to switch to the different directories. What is hacky is that you have to make a special case (and treatment) of the default face background[-pixmap] because it is used as a background attribute for something which is not related to characters. The closest thing to what you want is to use the "make install" target of the package makefiles to install them into a true package tree without building tarballs and replace the install program by "ln -s".
