21.2.17 changed menubar font from 21.2.15 24 years, 10 months

On this i386-pc-solaris2.7, my lucid menubars looked like this in b15: That is, they used -*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-* for the font. This, concidentally, is the same font as specified in src/Emacs.ad.h. In b17, it looks like this: Presumably that's one of the default CDE fonts. I tried setting the font myself in my .Xdefaults with the string from the Emacs.ad.h (with the addition of the Emacs* prefix) as follows: Emacs*menubar*Font: -*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-* but it doesn't work either. What happened? What can I do to return it to the earlier font? Appended is the corba-emacs.c file, which implements the xemacs bonobo component and the makefile. Beware that the corba-emacs is _not_ the only target in the makefile. all other targets won't compile, i've used them for testing. Also the gnorba file is enclosed. Please report any ideas suggestions and other findings. I'm using xemacs 21.1.3, but i'll switch to 21.2 branch as soon as my internet connection is better. You need the newest bonobo source from CVS. You migh use test-container-autoload to test the emacs component. Beware that it might be necessary to edit test-container-autoload.c and replace "File/" in the the gnome_app_insert_menus() call with waitever string is used in yu locale for the File menu. With a german locale it's "Datei/" for example. You need to copy the xemacs-viewer executable somewhere in you path.

[RFC] the rectangle functions 24 years, 10 months

Since I've been using whitespace.el, I've noticed that most of the rectangle functions are very intrusive: they put whitespaces in unexpected places. The reasons are: 1/ move-to-column doesn't make any difference between converting a tab into space and adding spaces at the end of a line. This is now fixed. 2/ operate-on-rectangle does too much blind work, notably messing with the end of the line even for functions like string-rectangle which shouldn't be concerned. So I've rewritten rect.el to correct these problems. The rectangle functions now avoid inserting spaces in unwanted places, unless a prefix is given for some of them, in which case the old behavior is (sort of) used. Here are examples of the differences, if anybody wants to comment the changes I propose. Well, testing it for correctness is one thing. Testing it for backwards-compatibility and not breaking existing piece-of-#!%＠! software like W3 is another test entirely. :) -bp

It might actually help matters. Tables with colored cells can lead to some weird stuff under both emacsen right now. -Bill P.
