pop3-version "2.03" password caching defeated by nnmail.el 25 years, 2 months

Hello Andy, thanks for the great UIDL support, it make life much easier! Password caching, however, still doesn't work because `nnmail-pop3-movemail' sets pop3-password from nnmail-pop-password, which is not cached. Should pop3.el have it's own substitute for nnmail-pop3-movemail, perhaps named pop3-pop3-movemail until nnmail is fixed? The comment ;; To use this with gnus add: ;; (setq nnmail-movemail-program 'nnmail-pop3-movemail) ;; to your .emacs in pop3.el would have to change then too. It's possible I've misunderstood some things, but I think: no-remote - nil -> remote connections allowed t -> no remote connections allowed caar entries - nil -> local path other -> remote path The unless body should be executed only if remote connections are allowed and it's a remote path, right? This gives the table (I am using "(if (and (not no-remote) (caar entries))" from my other posting): no-remote caar entries your (unless ... my (if ... ------------------------------------------------------------------ nil nil yes no nil other yes yes t nil yes no t other no no The "(unless...)" allows to enter the body if remote connections are allowed but it's a local path. I guess installing a local package will not be happen very often. Most people will use either efs (broken on WinNT) or have installed the packages already.
