Duplicate buffers in XEmacs 21.0 "Corsican" 27 years, 1 month

I recently installed XEmacs 21.0 Pre-8 "Corsican" on my workstation. Since I did the initial build and install in my own directory space and then installed, I had to tar all of the packages from my ~/.xemacs/packages directory and untar into /usr/local/xemacs/packages. This all worked, but resulted in duplicate autoloads since the same packages were present twice in my package path. This is probably awkward, but not a real problem. But when I start up XEmacs I get two, seemingly identical buffers named "*Warnings*" and *Warnings-Show*". Is there some reason for this duplication? R. Of course this would also introduce a runtime penalty but I would like to see how big this is. Moreover the XEmacs could do some kind of just-in-time rewriting of the adress to the real pointer. Jan P.S. I have no experience with lisp implementation, but suppose we had lexical scoping wouldn't most of the references be stack relative anyway?

[crash] Corsican, just updated with CVS 27 years, 1 month

Same as before. Works fine on the 16bpp display, but on the 24bpp laptop display, I see stripes in png's, and it crashes. Here's the data... Pasted into a vi from an xterm... it stairstepped. These are the same crash.

What about allowing special functions that do not have dynamically scoped parameters? Ignoring the language purity aspects for a second, would that offer much performance improvement? --pete

request: `make-frame-on-display' 27 years, 1 month

Just a request... for `make-frame-on-display', I think that there should be a default value of the `display' arg as (getenv "DISPLAY"). That would simplifiy things. That way, if you're on a TTY frame because you started XEmacs with % xemacs -nw you can still easily make an x-frame. basically, just add the default value. thanks, dave (p.s.
