b38: Tiff support misdetected 27 years

Note that this is not specific to b38 -- I've been seeing it for a while, but didn't report it because I worked on other stuff. OK, I just thought of a way to fix it: how about adding a `current-misc-user-event' variable that will be set to the event immediately prior to dispatching the callback function? This is still sort of a kludge, but less so than hardcoding the event to dnd-data by the C code. What do you think? balance-windows (uni-directional) 27 years

M-x balance-windows only seems to balance windows to equalize the heights of windows. It would be nice if it worked vertically too. i.e. if I do : C-x 3 C-x 3 C-x + XEmacs doesn't do the right thing, in my opinion. dave

cores and gdb 27 years

had XEmacs-21.0-b38-pre2 dump core several times when I was accessing the "Recent Files->Non-permanent entries" menu. If I tried to use gdb on the core, I would get an error message stating that the core was not in executable format. Changing various permissions on the core-file didn't seem to do any good, and file reports that the core is stripped. I have XEmacs compiled with -g, so the executable shouldn't be stripped. Any suggestions? The crashes stopped when I manually edited ~/.recent-files.el and removed most of the non-permanent entries, several of which pointed to files which have been deleted. Larry

It's a shame that the callback function cannot access the event that called it. But, as you concluded, there is no easy way to solve this.
