Alright then, good that it works for you now. Please let us know if you
see anything like this again.

Hello
I tried to use the function as mentioned above, but obtained
the following error whose but trace I attach.
I looked into the code (org.el) and indeed it has
a it has
(if (featurep 'xemacs)
(font-height (get-face-font 'default))
Now the function `get-face-font' is not defined in Xemacs
21.5.29 nor in 21.4. (I shall send a copy to Xemacs beta.)
One remark: I thought that (X)Emacs could not surprise me
any longer since it is such a mature product, but first
org-table surprised me since it brought spread-sheet
features, now org-preview-latex-fragment brings (X)Emacs
closer to a word processor. Thank you Team!!!!!

Some suggestions to try, reverse the sense of the test, like so:
if (NILP (s->tail))
s->head = read0 (readcharfun);
else
XCDR (s->tail) = read0 (readcharfun);
Introduce a temporary variable, like so:
else
{
Lisp_Object stale = s->tail;
if (!NILP (stale))
XCDR (s->tail) = read0 (readcharfun);
else
s->head = read0 (readcharfun);
Add some always-true code to the condition, where it’s not evident to the
compiler that it’s always true, so it can’t simplify:
if (Vmost_positive_fixnum != Vmost_negative_fixnum
&& !NILP (s->tail))
XCDR (s->tail) = read0 (readcharfun);
else
s->head = read0 (readcharfun);

An opportunity to learn lots about GCC. (Selfishly, I will say don’t,
though, send them a bug report, include a work-around in the Red Hat
patches, and do more, typically sterling, XEmacs work.)

Its been using Gtk+2.X for a year now. My target is late Gnome 2 (gtk
2.29) with deprecated code references removed. (see
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/RemoveDeprecatedSymbols/GTK%2B). Then
XEmacs should also compile with Gtk 3. All of the drawing will be done
with cairo and pango. I have just started removing deprecated code, so
there's still a fair amount to redo. I'm tackling images right now.
It's currently good enough for me to use by default. Display is good (as
long as you use mono fonts), crashes are rare. I suspect events are lost
occasionally, the scrollbar can't be dragged and the mouse wheel doesn't
work, so it's not complete yet.
I haven't done much with the implementing widgets. In the longer term I'm
interested in using gnome introspection to implement the FFI bindings so
that all of the gnome libraries will accessible from elisp. Then the
widgets should be easy. :-)
