You’re using the Intel C++ Compiler; which version exactly? I’m currently
downloading something listed as ‘Intel® C++ Compiler for Mac OS* X Version
11.0.059’, hopefully I can reproduce your problem with it.
(Macports appears not to have an ICC port available, which is probably a
licensing issue.)

I don’t see this locally, and the only thing that occurs to me to suggest is
rm lisp/coding.elc lisp/mule/general-late.elc
rebuild, and try again. Do the tests also fail if you run them by hand, with
M-x load-file RET tests/automated/test-harness.el and then M-x
test-emacs-test-file RET tests/automated/query-coding-tests.el RET ?

how to enhance y-or-n to various choices

I am looking for simple function which, when called interactively would
offer me various possibilities, corresponding to different letters.
An example would be feedmail which offers
- to send the mail, letter i
- to queue it letter q
- to draft it letter q
- to return to edit letter e
- to ask for help via ?
Now I looked at this function looks quite complicated. Is there anything
simple?

auctex: CHANGES and README

In the auctex packages in CVS, the files CHANGES and README differ
from what is produced if those files are regenerated. At a minimum,
we should regenerate them and commit the results back into CVS.
Better, in my opinion, would be to remove those generated files from
CVS and produce them unconditionally at build time. Note that
INSTALLATION and HISTORY are also generated, but the versions
currently in CVS match what is produced when they are regenerated.

[Bug: 21.4.19] file-name-all-completions returns null result

Dear Bug Team!
This is a new install of XEmacs (via Blastwave) on OpenSolaris under
VMWare on Mac.
File name completion is broken out of the box for NFS-mounted
directories.
Test case:
;; pick an NFS-mounted directory...
(shell-command "ls /net/macosx/Users/jrose")
;; ...displays lots of files
;; but try to get completions:
(file-name-all-completions "" "/net/macosx/Users/jrose")
("../" "./") ;; just the built-in defaults
Using Solaris "truss", I verified that the getdents64 system call was
returning the proper set of names to the C program. And
file-name-all-completions is a subr. So the problem is somewhere
below Lisp and above syscall. Could it be an Emacs config problem?
OpenSolaris uname -a: SunOS opensolaris 5.11 snv_101b i86pc i386 i86pc
VMWare version: Version 2.0.1 (128865)
Mac: OS 10.5.6 2.2GHz MBPro
(This worked fine with an earlier combination of all major
components. Broken after system upgrade/refresh. Not sure what

Awesome, good to know about this, I had forgotten about the special Windows
coding systems. I’ll revert the change that provoked this, and think a bit
more about putting the query-coding-region implementations in C.

I’m sure that they don’t, Marcus, which is why I am not planning to make the
