Patcher 3.10 is released
16 years, 9 months
Didier Verna
Hi there,
I've just uploaded the next edition of Patcher to CVS. Most notably, it
comes with support for Mercurial, and I've added a short chapter in the
doc about setting up a Patcher project for XEmacs development.
Here is a more detailed description of this release:
* Version 3.10:
===============
** New feature: provide built-in themes for some revision control systems
These are PRCS, CVS, Subversion, Darcs and Mercurial. Also coming with
whitespace-resistant counterparts.
** Documentation: a chapter on how to setup Patcher for XEmacs development
** Bugfixes:
*** Cleanup the log messages wrt trailing whitespaces
*** Correctly display a missing theme name in error message

Good news~~ The recompiled XEmacs binary works! And if I make change in
regex.h It works also!

Well, I am looking forward for the this to happen~~

[Bug: 21.5-b28] xemacs can't allocate memory anymore, ran for 1 day+, problems with dired
16 years, 9 months
Thomas Mittelstädt
Hello, beta team,
I'm running the latest mercurial xemacs, had him running yesterday and
overnight. When I do a C-x d, he refuses and says he
cannot allocate memory anymore. Indeed, top shows me that he consumes
about 71.5 %.
When I tried to close some dired buffers, xemacs crashes.
Often, there is this strange "Error in dired-find-file-place". When I go
to this directory again, some entries look out-of-place and I have
to do a 'g' to get it right.
I've attached the relevant info.

Warning:
Defaulting to the GNU Emacs-derived `sendmail.el' mail client. This facility,
while part of base XEmacs, is heinously underfeatured, and not going to get
better in the medium term. We include it so that bug reports work without
packages; we suggest that you choose and/or install one of the other mail
clients from packages if you're doing something other than M-x
report-xemacs-bug , or even if you are reporting bugs regularly.
To choose a package from those installed, click on "Options" ->
"Internet" -> "Compose Mail With ..." and decide on one from the
list. Gnus and VM are full-featured and have active user communities.
To disable this warning and stick with the old behavior, you can explicitly
initialize `mail-user-agent' to 'sendmail-user-agent .

GC leak?
16 years, 9 months
Jerry James
I ran the latest Mercurial XEmacs under valgrind for awhile tonight,
just because I really enjoy using such a slow editor. :-) When I
exited, the leak check reported some lost blocks; i.e., memory that
was malloced but not freed. The leaked memory looks to be mostly Lisp
objects. Does this imply a garbage collector leak? Here are the
relevant entries.
