Checksum error untaring xemacs-sumo-2005-01-18.tar

Hi there!
I have downloaded the sumo package of xemacs, and I'm about to unpack it,
but unfortunately it comes up with this error:
tar: directory checksum error
I then tried the archives:
xemacs-sumo-2005-01-18.tar.bz2,
xemacs-sumo-2005-01-18.tar.gz, and
xemacs-sumo.tar.gz
I'm unpacking on a Solaris 8.
The gunzip, and bunzip2 operations as the first step is flawless for all
three archives.
The error appears when using tar on the gunzipped, or bunzipped tar-file.
To me it seems like the tar archive within the zipped archives are
erroneous.
I hope you can help me!

Hi I'm trying to correct an error on my computer. It sais
cygWpm-noX4.dll is not available, so I can't open page from Emacs
written in Java or html pages saved as text doc. Please help me and tell
me what to do. Do I have to reinstall it, if so where on computer and
where can I get it?

The xemacs in installed on solaris machine, unix OS.
When I put following line in the .emacs file and source it,
it gives me error
line in .emacs file :- (global-set-key [f9] `buffer-menu)
Error got :- Unmatched '
Please help me.

[Bug: 21.4.16] wrong usage of cwd in package-tool

if i try to install packages whith the package-tool i get
everytime the following error:
no load of the recent package-index.LATEST.pgp
instead it is used the old one which i have.
by peeping in the ftp-log something looks a bit odd to me:

Looks like Gnus never ceases to make XEmacs choke on something :-)
Here's a Lisp backtrace of an error I got today when trying to send a
message. After a restart, the problem is gone ...

I see now that the problem happens when USE_ASSERTIONS is not enabled.
I have to go to bed now but I'll fix it tomorrow.
In the meantime it will probably go away if you compile with DEBUG_XEMACS.

I have a problem in compiling elisp files.
When I have
(latin-unity-install)
(require 'un-define)
active in my init.el file to activate unicode support I can no longer
bytecompile files or rather the compiles code seems to be incorrect.
It is reproducible with the following code snippet:
(setq try-oblique-before-italic-fonts t)
after byte-compiling it he loading of the elc file produces the
following error:
Invalid byte code: "reference 3 to constants array out of range 0, 1"
If I deactivate the two lines in the init.el file everything seems to
be ok.

With Arnaud's regex.c patch applied, I want to roll out 21.4.17 soon.
Please download and test 21.4 from CVS. If I don't hear any shouts,
groans or hollers, I will release 21.4.17 sometime (early?) next week.
Here's a brief summary of the patches applied to make 21.4.17:
