TOOL-BAR in 21.5

Hi,
I don't know if it is a serious bug, but, I would like to bring this to
your notice. Under default settings, the toolbar running across the width
of the xemacs window looks somewhat ackward(in the version 21.5.9). The
part of the tool bar, not occupied by any buttons, appears lowered i.e.
not at the same level as the buttons. Also, the colour set for the toolbar
doesn't apply uniformly across whole of the toolbar; the buttons still
retain their initial default colour. I am currently using 21.4.6, which
has no such problems. I am attaching the screen shots of both of them under
the same customization. I had also tried some earlier patch of 21.5 which
had similiar problems.
Hope this is of some use to you and eventually to me in the form of
a better looking xemacs:-)

Yes, it's built with X support. That's because they haven't figured out
how to make it run without X.

Yes. If you want X support you need to compile it. Last I tried it builds
out of the box. It's been a while though.

calm down please.
this was an accidental commit; the patch was posted as part of the large patch
to the entire packages hierarchy. i did indeed test it, but in the context of
the whole patch. i apologize for accidentally commiting this; it's been
reverted.

toolbar-utils crash, somewhat refined

This is the crash that I mentioned in my toolbar-utils patch.
To reproduce, I do

where crash-xemacs.el is this file:
XEmacs behaves as expected (returns 0, the index of the open-file
button, no crash) if crash-xemacs.el is _not_ byte-compiled.
I don't think the gc-suppression is relevant, but I thought it might
be gc-related so I tried that. Crashes both ways, same traces.

Can't compile xemacs-21.5.[7,9]

Hi,
after configuring with:
./configure --prefix=/usr/X11R6 --with-gif=yes
--with-sound=nonas,native,esd --with-mule
make gives:
Dumping under the name xemacs

If you have access to the PROBLEMS file that came with your
version of XEmacs, please check to see if your crash is described
there, as there may be a workaround available.
Otherwise, please report this bug by running the send-pr
script included with XEmacs, or selecting `Send Bug Report'
from the help menu.
As a last resort send ordinary email to `crashes(a)xemacs.org'.
*MAKE SURE* to include the information in the command
M-x describe-installation.
If at all possible, *please* try to obtain a C stack backtrace;
it will help us immensely in determining what went wrong.
To do this, locate the core file that was produced as a result
of this crash (it's usually called `core' and is located in the
directory in which you started the editor, or maybe in your home
directory), and type
gdb /usr/src/Edit/xemacs-21.5.7/src/temacs core
then type `where' when the debugger prompt comes up.

There is no core. I have linux-2.4.20-rc4, gcc-3.2.1, glibc-2.3 (with
some pices of glibc-2.3.1, as I just have seen). I would appreciate very
much any hint.

I can't compile xemacs-21.5.[7-9], I get:

nas.c:969 `SoundFileInfo' undeclared (first ...
If I compare the nas header files, I find, that SoundFileInfo[] was
defined
in audio/sound.h in older nas-versions, e.g. 1.4.1 but it is not defined
in
the current nas-1.6, which is installed on the target computer. This
error
occurs, even if I disable(?) nas in the configure step. I used:
./configure --prefix=/usr/X11R6 --with-gif=yes --with-sound=native,esd
--with-database=berkdb --with-mule
Do you have a hint, what I can do to compile xemacs?

I noticed some odd completion behavior a while ago
also. I added this
in my setup to get around it:
(add-hook 'shell-mode-hook
'(lambda ()
(setq comint-dynamic-complete-functions
'(comint-dynamic-complete-as-filename))))
Not a real fix, but it has been working as far as I
can tell. You
could also remove this fset line in completer.el:
(fset 'comint-dynamic-complete-filename
'completer-comint-dynamic-complete-filename)
It seems that
completer-comint-dynamic-complete-filename doesn't
always work.
