Please use explicit --with-gtk flags when building in the GTK tree.
The configure default is set to --with-gtk=no. The difference between
defaulting this option and using --with-gtk=no is purely for the same
of my statistical scripts: a successful configure using this flag must
be using GTK sources.
If you default it, I can only guess by looking for references to gtk
in the text. I simply use /gtk/i; I have false negatives (people who
simply use the default "xemacs" root for the checkout) and false
positives (people who write "my gtk report is in a separate message").

Yes!
NT (all platforms) is extremely important, because it's not one that
Bill is terribly familar with AFAIK, and therefore most at risk. NT
native is surely the most risky, since we can't even count on a
Unix-like build environment (eg, no autoconf).
