The only general way I can write portable code is to have multiple systems to test on. On the bright side, I have experienced positive portability results from using GNU libc and no extensions. Unfortunately, the glibc documentation is lacking.

For example, there should be a section describing how to pull binary packages manually and drop them in a package hierarchy. I didn't write this because I've never done any of these things, and I didn't write the code. I would appreciate if someone who actually once did these things could provide a writeup. Showstopper update, please read 26 years, 2 months

Hello, I've updated my showstopper list with a few more items, and, more importantly, I've added defacto owners to most of thoese items. The people chosen as owners are the ones who seem to be actually working on these items. Or in a few cases, the ones who seem to be most suited for the task. I would like to remove the ``de facto'' tags from each of these items. I will do so as soon as the corresponding person speaks up and designates himself as the owner of the task. If anyone wants to disclaim ownership, please speak up as well. Similarily for anyone who is not mentioned, but who wants to become an owner. Ben (typed by Martin)

FTP/EFS problems? 26 years, 2 months

Compiled b54 with VC++ 5.0 on NT4.0-sp3. Dialed into my job, 33Kbps using TCP/IP and PPP. I can use native PC ftp clients. When I try to do an EFS/FTP edit remotely to /persicom＠worknode:, it says something about the conenction not being as pty? It is totally reproducable. What should I set/turn-on/do to get more information for submission? This is HARDLY a complete bug report. Thanks. -- #!/usr/bin/perl -- Matthew O.
