Actually, CDE uses a (newer) version of Motif that was not available
without CDE (basically 1.2.6), and added several new widgets that got
incorporated into Motif 2.x. So both of you are right: CDE's libXm is
different, but fully backwards compatable, and if CDE's Motif exists,
it is usually (but not always!) hard or soft linked to /usr/X11/lib
(or wherever). The randomness of the main lib dirs was one of the
reasons for creating /usr/dt from what I can gather.
