[Failure] XEmacs 21.0-b39 "Russian White", sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1 26 years, 6 months

I am building from (build-expand-tarballs) "/ftp＠ftp.xemacs.org:/pub/xemacs/beta/xemacs-21.0/xemacs-21.0-b39.tar.gz" upon Steven's request. My first attempt failed DnD-related, I believe. Have I missed anything obvious? That's where the trouble starts: "frame-x.c", line 1110: syntax error before or at: * Thanks for any help. Edit the patch file and remove everything above the line `Index: xemacs-20.0/info/dir' Save the edited patch Feed the remainder to the patch program. Remove etc/altrasoft-logo.xpm manually and you should be O.K.

They've been removed from the most recent XEmacs betas. One can get the most benefit by putting dummy versions of these files (from biggest speedup to least speedup): ~/.xemacs/lisp/ [...]/mule-packages/lisp/ [If you use XEmacs/Mule] [...]/xemacs-packages/lisp/

The next patch looks like a unified diff to me... Scrollbar placement 26 years, 6 months

Kirill, don't you think it would be better to have the placement specifiers named `vertical-scrollbar-placement' (accepting `left' and `right') and `horizontal-scrollbar-placement' (accepting `top' and `bottom')? This would be closer to their resources equivalents, analogous to -visible-p variants, and probably more intuitive. Patching up from b38. I don't know if it's my screw-up or not but the b39 patcher fails on etc/altrasoft-logo.xpm.
