crypt and decoding gzipped files 26 years

Hi, Anybody having problems with decoding gzipped files under xemacs-21.0-b57? I'm running xemacs under solaris 2.5.1 and redhat 5.1 and I'm getting errors with both of them. Under solaris I get this error: gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file It doesn't gunzip the file. Under linux I get this error: stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device It gunzips the file but the text is kinda garbled. Crypt runs fine under xemacs-20.4 in solaris and linux. help: string fontification bug in ksh-mode 26 years

I've noticed that if you have unmatched string quotes (',",`) in comments in ksh-mode, that XEmacs gets confused about what's inside and outside quotes in the code, but only sometimes. Ideas anyone? M-x font-lock-fontify-buffer fixes things. For example: xemacs -vanilla this file: # -*- ksh -*- # Don't put unmatched quotes in comments compctl -j -P % -x 's[-] p[1]' -k signals -- kill compctl -z -P '%' bg compctl -j -P '%' fg wait jobs disown compctl -A shift compctl -caF type whence which where compctl -F unfunction compctl -a unalias compctl -v unset vared compctl -v -S '=' -q declare export integer local readonly typeset compctl -e disable compctl -d enable then M-x font-lock-mode then start adding and removing space at the beginning of the lower lines; the string regions get confused. Now remove the "'" in the comment and all is well. greg

XEmacs on AIX 4.3.1 26 years

Hi, I have recently upgraded from AIX 4.2.1 to 4.3.1 and my XEmacs has problems. I have tried to compile 20.4 but got problems when linking. Then I have got 21.2-b3 and finally compiled it with dialogs=athena The problems are: 1.when run in terminal it needs a couple of seconds for each input 2.when run as X11 window sometimes it stops responding and is very busy internally until I kill it As compiler I have used xlc. [PROBLEM] find-function only works for autoloaded functions 26 years

Although I have tried this under the native build on windows-nt in (emacs-version) "XEmacs 21.0 \"Pyrenean-pre6\" [Lucid] (i386-pc-win32) of Wed Nov 11 1998 on DARTER2" I suspect this exists on UNIX as well: All my builds are performed under d:\export\home\tmp\xemacs-20. The XEmacs I run was installed in the default location of c:\Program Files\XEmacs\ via nt\xemacs.mk To reproduce you can do the following: "c:\program files\xemacs\xemacs-21.0\i386-pc-win32\xemacs.exe" -q \ -no-site-file M-x hyper-apropos RET package-get RET NOW, M-x find-function or M-x hyper-apropos-find-function will only find functions which are marked a (a = autoloaded). See what happens for functions which are not, like `package-get-key': The library "d:\export\home\tmp\xemacs-20\lisp\packages" is not in the path. Any suggestions? Building "modules" 26 years

How do I build the stuff in the "modules" directory? I'm not that familiar with configure's internals. Is there something that'll turn the configure.in into a configure? Or do I use the configuration parameters of my main configure (eg configure.sh) to turn the makfile.in into a makefile? Thanks.

FSF Emacs WYSIWYG support 26 years

I saw rms tuesday evening. Appearently, he has strong plans to implement a wysiwyg feature in FSF Emacs and this didn't sound like such a long term plan. cl-array.el for XEmacs... 26 years

Hey, I think that this new package, called `cl-array.el', will be great for XEmacs. I've already done some wonders with it. It makes XEmacs almost fully compatible with Common Lisp with respect to arrays. Using it, you can do lots of neat stuff. So far, I've written a matrix package (matrix.el). It's all GNU Emacs compatible too. I sent a letter to Dave Gillespie, and he seems to think it's a good idea. Here is his reply to my mail: Here's the package, cl-array.el. Comments welcome.
