I have found a bug in the XEmacs package "vm":
Thank you for your report.
This package is externally maintained. Please report it to the VM
developers.
It should be possible to reach them via M-x vm-submit-report-bug.
They may say that it has been fixed in a more recent version of VM.
I'm trying to sync, but unfortunately the most recent versions of VM
when used with XEmacs 21.5 have serious redisplay and threading bugs
that I don't understand. It's not really reasonable to upgrade our
package wholesale as things stand.
RFC 2047 requires in its section 5 that "encoded-words"
must be separated from ordinary text by linear white space
but "vm" fails to do so.
VM has a lot of bugs in its MIME support, and elsewhere. Since this
requires non-trivial changes to functionality which is not
XEmacs-specific, we have to pass the buck to upstream.
