I was not aware until today that VALinux was sponsoring SourceForge.
SourceForge is trying to become the provider of Open Source project
hosting services for the world. They are throwing some serious
hardware at this, and they claim to be willing to provide more as they
scale up. A lot of their stuff seems to be very well done.
I propose to register our project there, and see if their service will
work for our project - in particular, hosting CVS. I am not planning
on moving ftp or web services. In the experimental phase, I plan to
only run a read-only (non-commit) CVS server from
sourceforge.net.
They need 4 pieces of information about the project that might be hard
to change later:
Description:
Purpose/Goals:
Full Name:
Unix Name:
I am looking for suggestions on filling in those first two items.
Unfortunately, any short description would be an understatement of our
goals. XEmacs is one of the most ambitious software development
projects ever. XEmacs is a tool that is designed to let you control
_everything_ in their computing environment. Hmmm. Maybe we should
say that. We might also something equally ambitious on
www.xemacs.org.
The last piece of information I plan to fill in as follows:
Unix Name: xemacs
