Hi! Sorry to disturb you and please write back directly to me as I am not member of the list. I have built yesterday 21.4.3 and could not use it and had to revert to 21.1.12 XEmacs / GTK. First, I have kernel 2.2.16, glibc 2.1.3, gtk etc 1.2.8 and gcc 2.95.2. I have built it by just running configure --with-gtk=yes. All went just fine without a single warning or similar, until I ran it. I am using GTK+ theme Mozilla-modern 21.1.12 has no problems with it. On the other side, 21.4.3 is unusable, because : - For any frame that is open a second one, very small is opened thereafter. This second window is of the same width as the first one, but one line long. It moves with a main window, which is not such a problem. But, when I type focus switches very often to this small, completely unusable window, which makes work impossible. Any attempt of resizing or killing that small window results in it being blurred after which first (normal) window becomes unusable - Between menubar and text area there is one line (in every window) that is completely unusable. Scrollbar extends not up to menubar but up to that unusable area, which diminishes my working area considerably. - The above area complies fine with GTK+ theme background colour , which in my case is blue, while the working area is an intolerable shining white. - For each window that is open, XEmacs shoots this message to the console (I have shortened it a bit) : Gtk-critical gtkwidget.cc line 3718 ... assertion widget- != NULL failed Please let me know how to solve the above problems. I would like to upgrade to 21.4.3 because 21.1.12 has it's own set of problems, but luckily quite tolerable.
