I have been trying to get a working XEmacs on Irix 5.3 for a couple of weeks now. This is on IRIX delta 5.3 11091812 IP22 mips with Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/mips-sgi-irix5.3/2.7.2.3/specs gcc version 2.7.2.3 I just (finally) succeeded by adding '-G0' to the LDFLAGS in src/Makefile as suggested by Jerry James on c.e.x. In the archive of xemacs-beta I have seen some discussion about this in April-June '98. Do any of the irix people know what is going on here? Could we at least add some info to PROBLEMS, if we can't solve this? I think solving/documenting this is still important, even if all this goes away with the new dumping scheme. People do suffer from this (and send stupid bug reports :-). thanks, Gunnar P.S.: the mule build on that machines seems to have some additional problems (apparently related to XIM).
