Yes. I don't know the easy answer to this. Probably removing it from the
gnus package. Even if the gnus guys were to bundle it with gnus it still
feels like it should be in a library so other programs can use it. Its not
quite as functionally rich as vm-pop so Kyle is unlikely to use it
(although its visbly quicker).
