This sounds similar to some bogosity reported on the Coda mailing
list. Something's either busted in RH's nscd

Do you know how much effort
netscape.com put into robust and fast DNS
performance over the years? :-/
They were solving a different problem, namely that the browser doesn't
"lock up" during gethostbyname. I don't have a problem with (or have
at least resigned to) XEmacs locking up while Gnus resolves hosts, I'd
just like it to work. :-)
