no, it wasn't a patch or a trick, sorry...
looks like this bug of mine is intermittent, it manifests itself only
when i install a new binary and the moon is waxing, or the other way
around, and later it disappears for months --- i can recall to have
experienced this bug at least two times on this machine, and at least
once on my home machine --- to sum up, don't worry too much, i think
(i hope...) that i'm the only one having a light pixmap over a dark
background
