Another problem is that if you do `C-x C-f foo.c' in a directory where
there is no foo.c, but there is one in the repository, vc will check a
copy out for you.
Some people think this feature is dangerous.
With versions prior to 21.x, I was having CVS problems that I think were
related to VC. I wasn't explicitly using any of the VC features. However,
we are using an ancient version of CVS (1.3 -- don't ask). When editing
certain files in XEmacs, the file would get corrupted (filled with null
chars). It couldn't be reproduced with CVS or XEmacs alone. As soon as I
upgraded to 21.0, the problem went away. In fact, that was only reason I
upgraded. But now that I have, I'm glad I did for other reasons as well.
Just wanted to let people know that at least one person was ecstatic about
the removal of auto-loading VC.
