OK, I've been trying to steer clear of getting involved in this thread, but I do have several questions: - how does xv handle GIF licensing issues? - is there a legal GIF library that can be purchased (preferably at low cost) which we could support? - when i save a TIFF in xv it offers LZW compression. will our TIFF support read this? (my xemacs does not have tiff) if so, does it violate the same patent? - how do i get xv to write PNG format? - will your typical Mac or Windows MUA handle PNGs? greg
