Um, does this mean France beat Croatia in the World Cup Soccer game?
Yes. It was a sad day here in Zagreb, even for a die-hard
non-football-fan like myself.
French team played excellent football, while our team offered a weaker
game than against Germany. A further proof of this was the fact that
the team was unable to use their one-man advantage during the last
fifteen minutes of the match (from what the TV showed, Blanc didn't
deserve the red card anyway). Congratulations to the French! I wish
you luck against Brazil.
In spite of this defeat, this Cup has been a great success for
Croatian football. Prior to the competition, noone in Croatia
seriously believed we would rank among the four best football
countries in the world. For us, the true highlight of the Cup was the
victory over Germany, the established football super-force. A piece
of data indicative of the greatness of this victory is that Germany
counts 6,200,000 licensed football players, while the whole population
of Croatia counts less than 5,000,000.
